Keurig Rivo Review

If you have been reading along since April, you know that one of my Top Must Haves for a new baby (or just life in general.. let’s be honest) was an espresso machine. Dan’s cousin CAME THROUGH and sent us a Keurig Rivo!
Honestly, I was skeptical at first because I’m not a giant fan of Keurig coffee over a fresh-brewed pot of drip coffee, or some cold brew. We gave it a shot though, and if I had to go back and buy my own espresso machine as a mom of a newborn — this one would be it.
How is the Rivo not just another Keurig?!
The Rivo uses espresso pods (this is one downside – these aren’t available in store. So you’ll have to reorder before you run out) to make cappuccinos, lattes, espresso shots, iced drinks and whatever else you want to buy the syrups for. There is a milk frother attached which works awesome. I use it even for drip coffee sometimes. (Rebel.)
There are two espresso size options (espresso and lungo) and three milk froth options (cappuccino, latte, and cold froth.)
Why would I want this instead of an espresso machine?
If you have the budget to get an awesome espresso machine (like a Breville – swoon), I still think you should do it. However, for the price and convenience, there really is no beating the Rivo. I love that I don’t have to clean it every time I want to use it, and can just pop in a pod and honestly have some DELISH espresso ready in a couple of minutes. I don’t have to worry about pulling the perfect shot, and all the extra steps that come with it.
Overall, I love the Rivo and it has been a lifesaver. Some days, grinding beans and filling a coffee pot just for it to get cold before I actually get around to it, just seems like so much work. I can down 2 espresso shots easily before my kids start going too crazy.
What’s the best thing to make with my Rivo!?
I love straight espresso shots when I’m in a hurry, or the baby’s crying. This summer though, it’s all about the iced lattes! I just pour one (or two… depending on the day) espresso shot over ice and add almond milk. It’s light and refreshing and so yummy. I’m OVER THE MOON excited for fall though (my favorite season) and can’t wait to order some syrups to throw in my lattes in the morning.
I’m sure one day, when my kids are bigger, older, and can make me an espresso (my own personal baristas – that’s what kids are for, right?), I’ll invest in a machine like the one below. Until then though, I’m in love with my Rivo and am so grateful we got it as a gift!
