Five Things Friday – May 5

Happy Cinco de Mayo! I hope you’re (safely) enjoying tons of tacos and margaritas.

I have seen a “Five Things Friday” on so many other blogs, and it kind of takes me back to the days of Myspace bulletins (anyone??). I used to fill out those surveys with no abandon, thinking everyone wanted to know what I saw to the left of me, what my favorite color was and what song I was currently listening to. Spoiler: It was most likely “Shake It” by Metro Station.

So I’m starting a 5 Things Friday here too! The first one is a survey I saw on another blog and thought it looked fun. I’m only doing five of the categories though, because I like some level of order in my life! Most likely though, they will be more along the lines of funny things my kids said that week, books I’m reading, shows I recommend, etc.

Five Places I Want To Visit

Greece This is my number one dream vacation. I mean, just look at that dreamy view. I have never traveled to Europe, and if I had the money to do so this would be the place I would fly into, spend a couple weeks and then travel that fly with that cheap European airline all over the rest of the country. My husband even once threw me a surprise Mediterranean birthday party complete with Aperol Spritzes, Greek flag decorations, and Greek food everywhere. He’s the bomb.

Boston Dan qualified for the Boston Marathon this year, but due to being pregnant and needing to upgrade to a car that could legally fit three carseats, we weren’t able to go. Also, my mom is in Boston right this second sending me pictures of a glorious Boston Cream Pie. I would love to go to Boston someday, specifically during the marathon.

Hilton Head Island I have been here once, and I have declared it the perfect family vacation destination. My son and I went with my family who lives in Ohio, and I want to go back with all of our kids and my husband this time. It is sunny, has beautiful beaches, and breathtaking homes. Our beach house backed up to the cutest bar on the beach that had the best smoothies/mixed drinks. It’s also raining hard here right now so anywhere sunny/beachy sounds so nice.

Italy I studied Italian for two years in college. I have no idea why I chose Italian other than Olive Garden was my favorite restaurant at the time. Classy. My one regret from college was never traveling abroad and using those skills.

Hawaii I have never been. My brother spent 3 months here at YWAM, and my family went for Thanksgiving (without me).. no I’m not bitter. I would love to go though!

Five Foods I Eat Everyday

Apples I usually eat at least one a day, with peanut butter. Sometimes in my oatmeal. You know what they say.. an apple a day keeps the doctor away! Or at least keeps my OB off my back about gaining too much weight.

Coffee There is really no explanation needed here..

Sweet Potatoes Lately, I have been on a real sweet potato kick. My favorite is cutting it into ‘toast’, microwaving it for 1-2 minutes and then throwing it in the toaster. Top with avocado and sea salt or peanut butter and cinnamon. Dynamite.Image result for sweet potato toast

Leftovers Leftovers have a lot of haters, but we are huge leftover fans in this house. I eat them for lunch every single day (when we have them). One time, I helped my brother with an Indian Missions Night at our church, and we made wayyyy too much curry and rice. I am not joking… I took leftovers home and was eating that same rice for like 2 weeks straight. Because hello.. free food. And I am too impatient to make real food most days.

Peanut Butter Again, no real explanation needed, but I love peanut butter. With apples, in smoothies, by the spoonful. I don’t discriminate.

Five Talents I Wish I Had

Tumbling Cheerleading was a huge part of my life when I was younger. I did competitive cheerleading for 10 years, and was never that great at tumbling. I could tumble, but I had to work really hard for every skill I got. I would love to be able to tumble with natural ability. Especially after three kids.

Singing Sorry to whoever sits behind me T church. I love singing, but it is definitely not a strong suit. Plus one of my secret dreams is to be on Team Blake on The Voice. Singing voice necessary.

Sewing There are so many talented clothing makers and cute shops all over Instagram. The idea of dressing my kids in all handmade, one of a kind, on trend pieces is so nice. I just can’t pass up the $5 kids shirts at Target though. I would love to learn how to sew my kids clothes!

Budgeting Well, I learned the hard way that I am terrible at budgeting and saving money. (Posts to come on that later.) I knew I loved spending money growing up, but just kind of figured I would be a great saver once I hit adulthood. Who knows.. maybe I’m just not there yet. Working on it!

Web Design Because this blog is becoming more and more fun to me, but also so confusing the deeper I dive in.

Five Songs I Listen to on Repeat

Crazy Frog This is not my personal choice.

Misery Business – Paramore Paramore was my favorite band in high school, and still is one of my top five. I dreamed of having awesome orange hair like Hayley Williams.. this song carries a lot of nostalgia for me and I just love it.

Cheap Thrills – Sia I have been listening to Sia’s Pandora station at the gym and this is one of my favorites.

Hair Up Again, not a personal choice.. this one is slightly more bearable though. I might find myself dancing to it more often than not.

Over My Head – A Day to Remember One of the best covers of all time (in my opinion. Obviously.) This is another super nostalgic song for me and is a perfect windows down in the car song.

Five Beauty Products I Use Daily

Naked Concealer Well, if we’re being completely truthful here, I haven’t used this in a couple of weeks. I ran out, and haven’t made it to Ulta to buy more. When I do have it though, it is my favorite medium coverage for my bags under by eyes. I may upgrade to full coverage when the baby gets here, but I love this because it feels so light.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water I got this because I saw it in a magazine as the next trendy French product or something, and I haven’t turned back to my makeup wipes. My face feels so fresh when I take my makeup off before bed, and it gets waterproof mascara off. Bam.

Mary Kay Moisturizer My friend sells Mary Kay, and I ordered this from her. I never really used Mary Kay before, so I figured this was a safe bet. I love it. It has sunscreen in it so it’s one less product I have to worry about!

Deodorant You’re welcome.

Revlon Uniq One  All In One Hair Treatment Okay, not only does this stuff smell like you are permanently on vacation, it does wonders for my split ends. I have been using it since Christmas, and when I went in to get my hair done and have all the nasties trimmed off, there was less than an inch that needed to be cut. Which is amazing because I get my hair done like 2x a year maximum, and am not super high maintenance with taking care of it in between. This stuff is the easiest hair product I have ever used, and I highly recommend!

Italy for me too! Though my highschool Spanish has meshed in my brain with the college Italian. Hola, yo parlo italiano. For food, we live on pesto pasta. It’s our easy meal; pasta, pesto, parm, feta, add veggies sometimes, boom. Good hot or cold. And makeup, IT CC cream. Coverage, lotion and spf. It’s perfect.
